Warm-up for students

Are you not completely up to date on the current academic dealings of the main speakers at the conference? Or would you just like to get a little taste of what you could experience at MatchPoints?

Wednesday 30 April you are all invited to attend a warm-up for students to prepare you for attending MatchPoints and other conferences. It is completely free and completely interesting and there will even be cake and coffee/tea.

Time: 30 April, 14-16

Place: Aud. A1, Political Science, building 1333.

Sign up for the warm-up on facebook

Why should I go to MatchPoints?

You would like to attend MatchPoints, but feel daunted by all the men and women in suits. The workshop sounds extremely interesting, but you don't know enough about the subject to sit in small groups and discuss it. You've never been to a conference before, and aren't conferences really just for fancy grown-up academics?

Does any of the above ring a bell? Fear no more, for MatchPoints is very much for you, even if you've never attended a conference before and doesn't own a suit. And it is also very much for you, if you have attended conferences and own a suit, or a blazer, or nothing of the sort. And a workshop is just a relaxed lecture with more questions.

Students at all levels of education are very much encouraged to attend the MatchPoints Seminars. It's an excellent opportunity to get a first-hand experience of how an academic conference works, as well as a unique opportunity to get close to some of the world's finest academics of various fields.

In the spring of 2014, there will be a warm-up event to prepare students for the conference. At this event, we will give a thorough introduction to some of the main speakers, as well as a more practical "How to attend a conference if you're a student and don't know whether to sit in the front row or not".
